Book Expo America!

.
.
I spent all day yesterday walking the LA Convention Center at Book Expo America. Was it cool? You betcha! It was like the biggest bookstore you can possibly imagine... times eleventy five! Every publisher worth their binding was there and then some. There were new books EVERYWHERE!
.
On top of that, most of them were passing out SWAG! I brought home bookmarks, stickers, first editions, and two book bags.
.
I met up with my friend Jane Hammerslough, the author of "The Search for Vile Things", the book I illustrated last year for Scholastic. They had a galley of the book and we got to talk to the sales people about it! The word on the street is that lots of library buyers are taking notes! More coolness!
.
It was a super good day! Better than Puppy Biscuits!

Wow! I'm impressed and kind of jealous! I'd be really jealous if it were of old and used and rare books- but with new books you don't have to smell the mildew! Sounds like a great day- I went to a fabulous farmers market and came home and made Honey whole bread- yummy, but not exciting!

Heidi Annie! Hello!
If there had been old and used and rare books I think my head would have exploded after three minutes. We used to go to the rare book show up in Pasadena every year but all the books were so expensive that after the kid was born we took a break. It was fun to look though.

Honey whole wheat bread does sound delish!

Yum!

As we can see, puppy biscuits are pretty darned good.

Sounds wonderful. I guess the closest I ever got to something like this was the one and only year I attended the American Library Association's annual conference. Yes, booths and books and swag and even some panels/presentations.

Oh, thank you of reminding me of Snuffles! I'd forgotten all about him, and I'd loved him back in my childhood. What a fun and expected trip on the Way Back Machine!
