Make Toys! Play More!
It has mercifully cooled off a bit from the humid, melty hotness that was this last weekend. Now a pleasant breeze is wandering in off the ocean and it a pleasure to be in my studio. Sunday was a lazy day and I doodled up a few new toys for the first time since I can't remember. It felt good to make something just for the fun of it.

Here's a little peak at them. They're going to be dancing finger puppets of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" I tried to draw Goldi as the nasty, ill mannered, bratty, little girl that I think she is.

How bout you? How do you beat the heat? We went for pitchers of lemonade with lots of ice.

One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words.

Have you heard the Rabbit Ears Radio production of Goldilocks? I think you'd appreciate their presentation of her. Some children's rooms at libraries have recordings of it (others in the series are good too!)

I went down to Lido Island with the girls over the weekend to visit a friend and we took our kids swimming in the bay. It was refreshing!

I love ceiling fans and basements in the heat! If I can stay somewhere in the vicinity of a ceiling fan- even hot moving air feels like it should be cool!

Goldilocks is a brat- and I think I went to grade school with her great- great- granddaughter. I like the hats on your bears and Papa bear's disgruntled expression. Thanks for sharing your vision and your talent.

Papa Bear looks chagrined. Momma Bear looks amused. Baby Bear hasn't quite made up his mind yet. Goldilocks, yeah, you want to send her home as soon as possible and let her mother deal with her.

I"m with Heidiannie when it comes to ceiling fans and basements. My office/studio is in the back corner of the basement, and i have a little fan on the computer table to move the air. Since the wife keeps the "air conditioning" at 85, cooling off under a fan is important. I vote for a quick cool shower and then laying naked under the fan. do NOT imagine this in your mind!!! it can cause permanent damage.

Dear Toymaker - we import our weather from the West, so we'll be getting it out this way! I vote for a pot of cool water for the feet and an icy "Arnold Palmer" (in this house it's strong iced tea mixed with instant lemonade mix) or lemon sherbet in 7-Up.

I love the look on Goldi's face! I just wanted to let you know that I finally printed out a set of your Little Stickers. I love the bunny and the cat. Thanks for sharing them and all of your other toys, Marilyn!

I agree that Goldilocks was quite a rude little girl.

But I love these puppets!
