The Enchanted Tiki Room

.

.

.
.
I grew up about ten miles from Disneyland. We used to climb on the roof to watch the fireworks. And we'd pretend to be the wall carvings that come to life and sing from the Enchanted Tiki Room.
.
Good times, good times.

In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room
In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room
All the birds sing words and the flowers croon
In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room
Welcome to our tropical hideaway, you lucky people you!
If we weren't in the show starting right away,
We'd be in the audience too.
All together!

I used to find those animatronics shows/rides so fascinating when I was little and watching features on them on the Walt Disney TV show. But it was always on a black and white TV, so your version is an incredible color surprise.

The colors are not accurate but more my memories of them. The Tiki Room is pretty colorful though.

We always watched Walt Disney too when we were kids and we made the boy watch all the classics like Pollyanna, Darby O'Gill, Gnome Mobile and Toby Tyler. They all held up pretty well and were engaging (Except for Johnny Tremain which I remember as boring to begin with.)

I'd love to get my hands on a copy of "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh" with Patrick McGoohan but Disney hasn't released it on DVD again. (The limited edition sold out)

Disneyland Memories

Hi Marily

I am “Marion from Ohio”’s sister. She told about your trip recent drawing trip to Disneyland and the pictures of the Tiki Room. Disneyland (especially the Tiki Room) is one of my favorite places!!! Growing up I always wanted to work in the Park. When I was 10 years old my dream was to be a cancan dancer in the Golden Horseshoe Review in Frontierland. Not having the gift of dance unfortunately this was never to be. However, in college I got my chance and spent two years working in the complex that houses the Tiki Room, Plaza Pavilion and what was the Tahitian Terrace Restaurant. Often times I would work in the pineapple juice stand in front of the Tiki Room. It was fun despite having to wear a bright orange muumuu (which made me look like a traffic cone) and coming home smelling like pineapple. The experience taught me important life skills like how to peal and slice a pineapple in less than a minute flat with out cutting my fingers. After college I came back to work for Disneyland in the Finance Division and ultimately worked with the Disney University which is the training division for the Park. While I no longer work for Disney I am still a huge fan and try to get to one of the parks as often as I can. The best part is seeing the parks again through the eyes of my nieces.

On a side note, I love your Little Dog videos and can no longer say the word "pudding" without sing it!!!

As they say at Disneyland, have a magical day!!!

Karen! Hello! And nice to meet you! (Any sister of Marion is a friend of mine)

Thanks for you kind note. I wanted to be one of the characters when I was a kid. Now I think that wearing a heavy fur costume in Anaheim in August would not be one of my favorite jobs. :-)

AhlllloooooooHA!

Can I adopt this our own "personal" song for our Tiki resort? :-) Love it! Where did the song come from?

You'd have to ask Disneyland about using the song. It's from one of the shows there.

Google it on You Tube. You can hear the whole thing.
