Happy Summer!

.
.
Met our deadline for the first draft of Haunted Histories. Here's a study for Hameji Castle in Japan.
.
Took a couple of days off. Well. Enough of that. Weeded garden. Picked giant cucumbers.
.
We had the awesome artist, Andrew Mitchell over for his birthday tonight. Made homemade biscuits, garlic cream spinach, fingerling potatoes, orange avocado salad and for the carnivores, parmesan chicken wrapped in prosciutto. For dessert, a hot apple tartin with vanilla ice cream. Delish and good company!

Tomorrow, it's back to work!
.
American friends and family, what do you have planned for the fourth? To my friends and family in the north, how was Canada day? Hey Australia, you staying warm?
.
Best thoughts,
,
Marilyn.

Hey mama! Hope that you got at least a little mellowness yesterday. If not, then today!

We will be at our trailer down in South Jersey by the shore. I hadn't gone to see fireworks in years, due to my aversion for crowds. But last year we found a great spot without too many people, purely by accident. So this year, we will probably do the traditional thing of grilled food and then head to the beach to see the fireworks. Happy Fourth of July to you!

I share your aversion. People in small groups = wonderful. People in large crowds... = not so fun.

Perhaps it's a result of too much exposure to anime, but I immediately thought, "Floating castle!"

Hubby is working, but after he gets home a couple of friends will come over and we'll burn grill some burgers and just hang out.

"too much exposure to anime" no such thing. ;-)

Hope your fourth was mellow.

Mellow--yes, that's a good word for it. Kind of nice to kick back and just enjoy a holiday and not be worrying about needing to do this, that, or the other.

Your dinner sounds awesome! Got a good recipe for that apple tartin? And I'm going to add that castle to my travel wish list...

Just use apples instead of bananas (although bananas are good too!)

And the video

I did mine in a cast iron skillet. I'm to nervous to do hot caramel on a cookie sheet. The handle makes it easier to flip.

With a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Delish!
